Inert Gases

Inert Gases naturally occur in the environment.

There are Several different brands of Inert gases available in the Australian market. Some of these include Inergen, Argonite and Pro inert

Inert gases are clasified as a “Clean Agent. A clean agent is defined as  “an electrically non-conducting, volatile, or gaseous fire extinguishant that does not leave a residue upon evaporation.” according to the US based National Fire Protection Association.

Inert gases  work by reducing the oxygen levels to such a point that a fire is not able to continue to burn. The oxygen levels whilst low are still at a safe level for humans if gas is discharged while the room is occupied.

Argonite and Proinert use a combination of Argon and Nitrogen gases achieve the reduction in oxygen levels.

INERGEN is a blend of inert gases that contains 52% nitrogen, 40% argon, 8% carbon dioxide(CO2), used for fire suppression system agent. Inergen is the only inert gas that contains C02 and is a patented system. One of the claims in the market is the Co2 causes the body to hyperventilate forcing the body to use the oxygen in the room more effiecntly thus making room occupation safer upon discharge.

Wormald is the exclusive distributor of Inergen in Australia.
